Guide
Set up Mailio in an email program
Use Outlook, Thunderbird or Apple Mail with your Mailio account via IMAP and SMTP.
You can use Mailio in Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail and other programs that support IMAP and SMTP. Calendar and contacts can be synchronised using the protocols enabled on your account (typically CalDAV/CardDAV — see your welcome email).
Before you start
- You need the login and server details we sent you after your account was created
- Always use the server names and ports we sent for your account
- Choose IMAP (not POP3) if you want your mailbox synchronised across several devices
Thunderbird (recommended for moving email)
- Menu → Account Settings → Account Actions → Add Mail Account
- Enter your name, @mailio.dk address and password
- Choose IMAP and adjust the servers manually according to the welcome email if Thunderbird does not detect them correctly
- Add your old Gmail/Outlook account as an extra account to drag your email over to Mailio
Microsoft Outlook (Windows / Mac)
- File → Add Account (or Settings → Accounts)
- Enter your @mailio.dk address
- Choose IMAP and enter the incoming/outgoing server, ports and encryption (TLS) from the welcome email
Apple Mail (macOS)
- Mail → Settings → Accounts → +
- Choose Other Mail Account → sign in with the IMAP details from the welcome email
Troubleshooting
- Cannot send: check the SMTP server and port, and that you use the same username and password as for IMAP
- Certificate warning: compare the server name with the one we sent you — contact support if in doubt
- Delivery problems: postmaster@mailio.dk
