If you want to leave Gmail or Outlook, there are several good European email services to choose from. They are not the same: some focus on encryption, others on low prices or lots of features. Here is an honest comparison to help you pick the one that suits you – even if it is not us.

What Mailio does differently
- Danish company, Danish support: Vores IT ApS in Lejre, Denmark runs Mailio. You talk to us directly – not to an international support queue.
- .dk domain and email in one: Order for example name@yourcompany.dk directly from us, without having to connect a domain and an email provider yourself. See pricing.
- Danish invoice and Danish VAT: Easy for associations and small businesses in Denmark.
- Works like normal email: IMAP and SMTP in every email app – Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird and your phone – with no special apps or bridges.
- Help getting started: Step-by-step guides, and help with moving your email can be purchased.
Where the others are stronger
We would rather be honest than have you find out later:
- Encryption: Proton and Tuta encrypt your email end-to-end, so not even the provider can read it. Mailio uses encrypted connections (TLS) and two-factor login by default, but not end-to-end encryption. In return, Mailio works in all standard email apps.
- Price and storage: Posteo is cheaper, and several providers offer more storage than Mailio’s 5 GB. If you need more space, contact us.
- Free plan: Proton and Tuta have free versions with limited storage. Mailio is always paid – and in return has no ads and no data-driven business model.
- Office suite: mailbox.org includes office apps, drive and video meetings in the same subscription.

When should you choose Mailio?
- You live or work in Denmark and want a local provider
- You want email on your own .dk domain without hassle
- You use Outlook, Apple Mail or your phone’s mail app and want to keep doing so
- You want data in the EU and no ads at a fixed, clear price
Is Mailio the same as Mailo?
No. Mailio.dk is a Danish service from Vores IT ApS. Mailo.com is a separate French provider with different prices and terms.
